TSVS Methodology
The Turkish Social Values Study (TSVS) survey was designed by Dr. Ceylan Engin, Dr. Sinan Erensü, Dr. Souad Osseiran, and their research team at the Boğaziçi University Sociology Data Lab (SDL).
To ensure the smooth implementation of the study, the research team collaborated with Roni Research, which provided technical support in survey programming and conducting fieldwork. The first step in this process involved digitizing the survey by converting the paper-based questionnaire into a software-compatible format. Following this transition, the interviewers underwent specialized training to familiarize themselves with the survey structure, question flow, and interview techniques.
The data collection phase was conducted using Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI), a method that facilitates face-to-face interviews while integrating digital data collection. For sensitive topics, such as sexuality, participants were provided with tablets to record their answers privately, reducing potential social desirability bias and ensuring confidentiality.
The fieldwork was conducted between September and December 2024.
The project was funded by TUBITAK 1001, The Scientific and Technological Research Projects Funding Program.
